A steep-slope roof system is a category of roof systems that are generally associated with water-shedding roof coverings on a roof slope 3:12 or greater. The most common types of water-shedding roof systems installed on steep-slope roofs are asphalt shingle roof systems, concrete and clay tile roof systems, and metal panel roof systems.
